Battlestar Galactica

Genre: Sci-Fi Shooter
Publisher: Sierra Online
Developer: Auran
Release Date: October 24, 2007

Battlestar Galactica is a videogame developed by Auran and published by Sierra Online for Xbox Live Arcade and Windows PC.

The story is set during a critical time for the human colonists as the war against the Cylons is coming to close. Adama has recently been assigned to the Galactica as a pilot and gamers play through the events that will shape the man who will later be Commander Adama, the captain of the last Battlestar leading a ragtag fleet of humans to their fabled homeworld called Earth. The game, developed by Warthog, is based on the 2003 Sci-Fi channel miniseries.

Play Sequence

Turns consist of three phases, with all players working through each phase before moving onto the next phase. The phases are defined as follows:

  1. Ready Phase - During the ready phase, players ready and restore existing cards, draw two new cards, and may then play a card as a supply card or asset.

  2. Execution Phase - Players alternate playing a card, playing an ability, challenging, or resolving a mission. When both players have passed consecutively, the phase ends.

  3. Cylon Phase - If the Cylon threat level of the face-up alert and reserve cards exceeds the fleet defense level, the Cylons attack. When this occurs, each player reveals a Cylon threat, and each player must then challenge a threat or pass (losing one influence) until no threats remain or everyone has passed.

The player who goes first in all situations is the player with the lowest current influence at the start of the current phase.

Card Type:

  • Bases - Cards which are not part of the main play deck. Each player reveals a base card at the start of the game, and this card determines a number of factors, including starting hand size and influence.

  • Events - Events which have an immediate effect on the game.

  • Personnel - Individuals or characters from the universe of Battlestar Galactica.

  • Missions - A task or mission which a player's fleet can attempt. Players typically resolve missions by meeting the mission requirements using face-up alert units.

  • Ships - Space-going vessels or ships from Battlestar Galactica.

Feature:

  • Battlestar Galactica features 10 single-player missions, each of which are based on genuine episodes from seasons one to three of the television show.
  • The multiplayer supports up to eight people on Xbox Live Arcade and 16 on PC-based gaming. All of your favorite multiplayer game types are in as well, from standard deathmatch and team deathmatch to Domination.
  • Battlestar Galactica is focused on pick-up-and-play gameplay.

Publisher: EA Games
Developer: Flagship Studios
Release Date: October 31, 2007

Hellgate: London is an RPG set in the immersive first-person shooter. With a completely randomized world that offers a unique experience every time you play, Hellgate: London introduces a demon-ridden place where the last survivors of the human race must meld science and magic to survive. Gameplay is based heavily on the character's stats. Hellgate: London is an obvious successor to Diablo.

Game Story:

According to legend, when the ravens depart the Tower of London, it will crumble to rubble and disaster will befall England. As man became more dependent on science, believing only in what he could define or create, ancient knowledge and rituals were lost to the antiquity of time.

The Classes of the game:

The Templar, a secret society preserving the rites of the original Knights Templar, mix futuristic technology with ancient artifacts to create powerful weapons and armor perfect for short-ranged and melee attacks.

The Cabalists are students of the dark arts and edges of science which often leaves them standing right on the line between good and evil. Their mystifying spells make them suited for mid-range combat.

The Hunters are mysterious, highly trained ex-military operatives who lay waste to their foes with hyper-advanced weapons that blend theoretical science and the latest in technology – and their bullets can come from almost any distance.

HellGate: London delivers an amazing gaming experience to PC gamers of all types – delivering the eye-popping DX10 visuals demanded by the hardcore, and scaling to ensure the masses of casual RPG players can still get the best performance on older PCs.
